Mick Harte was Here

Mick Harte was Here, by Barbara Park, is about a girl named Phoebe, whose brother Mick, dies in a bicycle accident. He died because he didn't have his helmet on. After he died, Phoebe and her family were never the same again. They spent most of their days at their house. Phoebes mother slept half the day and never changed out of her pajamas. They never ate meals at the table anymore. Phoebe spent most of her day talking to her friend Zoe, and dreaming about Mick. About a month after they were recovering from the accident, Phoebe started going to school, and her father started going to work. After the funeral, Phoebes family was fully recovered, but every once in awhile, Phoebe would still have flashbacks. In the end, Phoebe writes "Mick Harte Was Here" in the wet concrete.

One of the main themes in the book is safety. An example is when Mick crashed, he died because he wasn't wearing his helmet. Another theme is bravery. An example is when Phoebe went to school, she had to deal with people making fun of her. Those are some themes in this book.

I would not recommend this book to other 8th graders, because it is a sad book. This could make girls cry easily, and even some guys. Even though I liked the book, other people might not. I would recommend it to ages 14 and up. This book is short and easy to read. That's also why i would recommend this book.

Book Review: Cryptid Hunters

Cryptid Hunters, by Roland Smith, is about a boy and girl named Marty and Grace, who have adventures in the Congo with their uncle. Marty and Grace's parents crashed in the Congo, so they were sent to live with their Uncle Wolfe. Wolfe is a scientist that looks for cryptids. He also lives on a secret island in the Pacific Ocean. so when Marty and Grace get to the island, they mess around for a couple of days, then Wolfe decides to take them back to the school because Wolfe is going to the Congo. when they are on the way back, Marty and Grace fall out of the plane while they were in the cargo hold. Somehow, they survive and find themselves lost in the Congo. While this is going on, Noah Blackwood and Butch McCall are coming to capture them. Noah Blackwood is an evil scientist, and butch McCall is his sidekick. they want to kill Wolfe and capture Grace. In the end, Marty and grace are rescued. It is a book filled with action, adventure, and mystery.

One of the main themes in the book is adventure. an example of how this theme is shown is when Marty and Grace fall into the Congo, they have to venture through the forest. Another theme in this book is mystery. An example of how this theme is shown is when Grace adventures through the Congo, she discovers many facts about her past life. Those are some of the themes in this book.

I would recommend this book to other seventh grade readers because it is a book filled with action, adventure, and mystery. It also has a lot of funny sequences in it. I would recommend it to ages 12 to infinity. It is also a great book for people who are interested in Cryptids. That's who i would recommend this book to.

Science Systems Essay: A Letter to the Human Body Corporation

Dear Human Body Corporation:

If you fire me, you will be skinless, brainless, and without a spinal cord! First of all, you will have no skin. Second of all, you will have no brain. Thirdly you will have no spinal cord. That's why the Human Body Corporation shouldn't fire me, the nervous system.

If you fire me, you will not have any skin. If you have no skin, you will have nothing to protect you from germs. You will also have nothing to keep you warm. Lastly, you will have no feeling. So you shouldn't fire me because you will have no skin.

If you fire me, you will also have no brain. If you have no brain, you will have no thoughts. You will also have nothing to transport commands. Lastly, you would just be limp and pretty much dead. You shouldn't fire me, because you will have no brain.

Lastly, if you fire me you will have no spinal cord. If you don't have a spinal cord then you won't have any reflexes. Like the brain, you will have nothing to transport commands. Lastly, you wouldn't be able to multitask! Imagine not being able to watch TV and eat at the same time! You shouldn't fire me because you will have no spinal cord.

So the Human body Corporation shouldn't fire me for three reasons. One, you would have no skin, and you would be a boney zombie who is covered with ice. Two, you would have no brain, and you would be a dead,limp, zombie that likes to eat rocks. Three, you will have no spinal cord. Unless you want to be skinless, brainless, and without a spinal cord,don't fire me.
